AI is addicting
I fell for it... for a moment I did. I went through some tough times the last year, and worked forced my hand. I realized on my own, but Hailey's post hit the nail on the head.
Let's quick make this one quick. Yes, you generate code fast, but you don't learn, in fact you unlearn by not doing. The "productivity" is addicting. Quick dopamine hits satisfy the part of your brain that wants you to be productive, but you're not actually doing anything useful, at least nothing that lasts. Don't forget imposter syndrome, a lot of have it, and good luck fixing that while AI is doing your work for you.
Sure, work can force you to use it, and you can't do much beside change job, but please try to keep it out of your personal life, it affects the way you think.
You're not reviewing AI generated code, at least not in the way you should review code. Developers are lazy, and while that motivates us to create and automate, it's also gonna hold you back when you have the mindset of "oh my llm knows how to do this".
